‘It’s What’s Inside’ has set up very well

A group of friends gather for a pre-wedding party that turns into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a mysterious game that awakens long-buried secrets, desires, and grudges. First off, it would get very confusing
We meet some characters and find out that they have some behind-the-scenes drama going on. We are then introduced to an interesting mechanism that will drive the rest of the film. At this point I thought I was in for something really special. What I didn’t realize was that there were a few issues that would hold the movie back.
The other issues are with the characters
I don’t want to go into too much detail because that would ruin the premise of the movie. But anyone who watches this movie will figure out pretty quickly what I’m talking about in terms of confusion. I will say that while the middle of the movie is very confusing, it clears up and becomes a bit more coherent towards the end. You still have to keep your head on your shoulders, that’s for sure.
All the negatives aside, there are some really good things here
There are a lot of them and they are very toxic people that are hard to care about and be on their side. I really feel like the movie could have easily cut 2-3 characters and it wouldn’t have lost anything. And as for making them toxic, I get that it makes for more juicy drama, but sacrificing likability is a big deal. If you can keep up with the story and follow all the character/story arcs, you’ll probably have a great time because it has a few nice tricks up its sleeve at the end in that regard.
It was an ambitious undertaking to make such a complicated film, and overall they did a good job
