The recovery of the missile, found in January 1985, was eventually followed by numerous international media outlets
Synopsis
Tells the empowering story of an abused single mother working at a small town newspaper who gets drawn into the investigation of a missile crash that turns life in a small northern village upside down. The film is based on a true story from December 1984, when a Soviet surface-to-air missile veered from the Barents Sea over Finland’s borders and crashed in Inarijärvi.
This film is a masterpiece
The portrayal of Lapland in the 1980s feels incredibly authentic. The film looks, sounds and captures life as it was in the Finnish province when the great Soviet Union appeared just behind the Iron Curtain.
As you can see in this film, life can be heartbreaking and ugly, but sometimes surprisingly beautiful
An important theme is a female character finding her way in a man’s world and trying to find her place – not through money, education or looks, but by staying true to herself. She is not a stereotypical woman who relies exclusively on men or, on the contrary, completely rejects them.
This film surpasses her previous work Aurora
The camera work, the music and the dialogues in the peculiarities of everyday life are once again spectacularly captured by Miia Tervo. But don’t just take my word for it – watch the film yourself.
