Coincidentally, Aidan Turner had previously filmed at Chavenage House (The Priory in Rivals)
Synopsis
It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham as they have a long-standing rivalry that comes to a head. The same filming location was also used to portray Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC TV adaptation of Poldark.
5 minutes into the first episode and I was hooked
When I first saw that Rivals was coming out, I squealed with excitement. I was nervous too ~ having been a fan of the books.
The costumes, the make-up, the music ~ what a soundtrack
Each episode is fast paced, there are no times where you feel bored or like it’s been stretched out like so many of these mini-series tend to be. The characters are all so unique and so well played, the acting and casting are fabulous.
This series is fun, bold, colorful, and nostalgic
I can understand the disappointment at the change in Rupert’s ‘look’ but it really isn’t that big of a deal, or has any lasting impact in my opinion. It doesn’t disappoint in the slightest, and we can take a moment to appreciate David Tennent who once again plays the “bad guy” perfectly.
Please, let there be more to come
