He is actually a very talented musician
Synopsis
Three strangers – who live in the same New York apartment building and are obsessed with true crime – suddenly find themselves entangled in a murder. Steve Martin plays the concertina in various scenes. The viewer learned in the first episode that CHS lived above Oliver, who lived above Mabel, thanks to that elevator scene.
He is featured in the cast of Crazy Cartoon AniMat: The Rat of All My Dreams (2020)
BUT the opening episode shows CHS in an apartment on the 7th floor, Oliver on the 8th, Mabel on the 9th – the reverse order and well below CHS’s actual floor on the show. When the initial episodes of Only Murders in the Building started getting 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, I have to admit that I was skeptical that Steve Martin and company would be able to maintain the quirky, funny nature of this comedy-thriller series through the final episode. But Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and he form an unlikely but raucous trio that keeps us on our toes and laughing until the final episode of this brilliantly written, infectiously funny series.
How this motley crew comes together to solve a bizarre murder that occurs in their apartment is the rest of the story
Steve Martin and the fantastic Martin Short play a pair of geriatric ex-performers who stumble upon a young Guild (Gomez) who also happens to be a murder podcast fanatic. While some comedy-investigative series have had huge fan bases, such as Monk (2002-09) and Psych (2006-14), the genre has always been a tightrope walk that most creators shy away from. Finding humor in the most unlikely places and filled with unexpected plot twists and a host of delightful supporting characters, it’s no surprise that Steve Martin was also one of the creative geniuses behind the writing of this masterpiece.
Incredibly gripping, suspenseful, laugh-out-loud funny!
Leaving us on a tantalizing knife edge with a climax hanging in the balance, I can’t wait for Season 2. Definitely worthy of a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Highly recommended!
