Synopsis
A budding art restorer travels to a small Italian village to restore a medieval painting to its former glory. Little does he know that he’s being threatened by an evil curse and a monster born of myth and cruel pain. Lauren Lavera said she’s only seen part of this film. “The Well” is where “Hostel” meets “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” and it’s truly an old-fashioned Italian gore, a la Umberto Lenzi. I’ve been waiting for this since Stieges 2023, and Zampaglione’s direction (Tulpa) did not disappoint. La Vera (Horror 2) wore the crown of “the last girl” well, although obviously more modestly. The performances of the four prisoners were excellent, and the cinematography was top-notch. The story was a bit weak, but the blood and other visual effects more than made up for it. Zampaglione really hit the spot where Rob Zombie usually goes. He even had a family member who somehow managed to play a role in the film.
