They soon encounter much more than they bargained for as they delve into the eerie old building
The crew of a horror web series travels to an abandoned psychiatric hospital to do a live broadcast. The directors were unable to obtain permission from the South Korean government to film at the actual hospital, so the scenes set in the film set at Gonjiam were filmed at the Busan National Maritime College, with the production team sticking closely to the hospital set to recreate the exact exterior and hallways. Charlotte continues to look to the side as the group finds themselves in front of the hospital.

The owner of the YouTube channel “Horror Times”, Ha-joon (Wi Ha-joon), decides to live-stream from Gonjiam, expecting to reach a million views and sponsors who pay half a million dollars in advertising.

Ha-joon joins a six-person team of teenagers: three boys, Sung-hoon (Park Sung-hoon), Seung-wook (Seung-Wook Lee), and Je-Yoon (Jay Yoo); and three girls, Ah-yeon (Ah-yeon Oh) and freshmen Charlotte (Ye-Won Mun) and Ji-Hyun (Park Ji-Hyun), to spend the night at Gonjiam and live-stream. Ha-joon stays in the base tent and monitors the delayed broadcast to adjust his choice before streaming to viewers, after which the group splits up and heads to four floors of the hospital. The girls are unaware that Ha-joon, Sung-hoon, and Seung-wook have planted fake supernatural effects to torment the girls and consequently viewers who would be scared by the effects.

When the effects are activated, Charlotte and Ji-Hyun are scared and terrified but are convinced to stay with the group. But suddenly supernatural events begin to happen in Gonjiam, and Ha-joon tries to find out what is going on and continue the broadcast. This low-budget film has terrible, sloppy camerawork and is scary but in a confusing way.
My vote is six
The conclusion is a bit nonsensical. “Gon-ji-am” is suitable for horror fans who like this economical way of filming, because the unoriginal plot is fun. Title (Brazil): “Gonjiam: Manicômio Assombrado” (“Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum”)
