This animated anthology series presents original stories set in the worlds of iconic video games. Video games have made the big leap to the screen, and we’re celebrating the genre by taking a closer look at over 50 video game adaptations in film and TV. Clive Standen reprises his voice role as Demetrius Titus, the protagonist of the video game Space Marine 2. The episode takes place after the events of the game. It references the Film Junk podcast: Episode 973: Carry-On (2024). As a longtime fan of Tim Miller’s other show, Love Death + Robots, I was really excited about this one. That’s when I started to notice that many of the stories couldn’t hold my attention for very long. They would just end right before something interesting happened. I think the show would benefit from focusing more on the concepts and ideas of the games it’s adapting, rather than just showing how innovative and revolutionary these games are that you can play instead of watching the show. I liked LDR because I used it for a short time, which was supposed to provide incredible world building and characters you can get attached to, but the episodes here barely do that. Otherwise, the animation is great and the voice acting is great. I want to wait until the full set comes out before I make a decision.
