Porky Pig and Daffy Duck are Earth’s only hope against the threat of an alien invasion. The first Looney Tunes film to be released in theaters and not distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film was originally intended to be a streaming-only release on the streaming service Max. After the company decided to release it, the film was sent to other distributors, with GFM Animation eventually acquiring the worldwide distribution rights and moving the film to a theatrical release. Inside the meteorite, when Daffy demonstrates his talent with levers, he pulls the lever to lower the car and pushes it to raise it again. Porky does the same later in the scene. But when Porky and Petunia are tied up, Daffy pushes the lever forward and the car lowers him anyway. At the end of the end credits, Porky Pig makes his classic statement: “That’s it, folks!” only to be interrupted by Daffy Duck, who tells him that this is not the end of the movie and that they need a sequel. The story is a little, well, crazy, but what else would you expect from Looney Tunes? But Daffy Duck and Porky Pig works as a movie. However, I have to say that the action was very over the top. Sure, we’re talking about Looney Tunes here, specifically Daffy Duck, but still. So the joke fell a little short for me. There were some funny moments, for sure, but that proper wit and humor that defines Looney Tunes was missing or rare. But otherwise, I can recommend the movie as a hand-drawn animated film in modern times. This review comes from Germany, where the film has already been released.
