I knew about the real maple syrup heist, I had seen the trailer, and I thought it would be fun to watch
When maple syrup producer Ruth Landry sees her livelihood attacked by greedy competitors who were once her friends, she hatches a plan to retaliate and shake up the industry. Loosely based on the theft of $18 million worth of maple syrup from a Quebec warehouse in 2011-2012; five people were sentenced to prison. Let me start by saying that I went into this show with medium to low expectations, so there were no major disappointments or real surprises.
It’s someone else’s work that’s been rehashed over and over again
And it can be a lot of fun to watch if you like bad Fargo plagiarisms by people who don’t understand any of the working ingredients of a Coen brothers movie. And I guess you could say that all the little things they ripped from other movies could be homages and hat-tips if they weren’t so awkwardly and inappropriately sure of their own uniqueness. There’s a smugness to the writing and direction that, quite frankly, we don’t deserve.
Sarcastic, simple, angry, weird, and evil
It’s the end of a telephone game, and the facial expressions are almost unrecognizable. The only real charm of the show, the one that kept me watching until the end, was the cast. They gave it their all, even though all the characters were the same archetypes that these actors always seem to embody these days.

It seems like some of the cast members can’t escape the type of casting that got them. I want a better cast for them, even though they’re really good at what they’ve been fooled into being. One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of the biggest TV and streaming releases of the month.
