The Dutton family faced new challenges in the early 1900s, including the rise of western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. Although America’s Great Depression began in 1929, it began early in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, nearly 10 years before the rest of the nation. While the rest of America was prospering, Montana was struggling. Between drought and the reduced demand for agricultural products brought on by the end of the “Great War” (aka World War I, 1914-1918), many farmers suffered greatly. As a result, Montana farmers reportedly defaulted on wartime loans, leading to widespread bank failures throughout the state. Between 1921 and 1925, half of Montana’s farmers lost their land. By 1925, 70,000 of Montana’s 82,000 ranchers had left. Additionally, 200 banks in Montana failed. The drought didn’t just affect crops, it was followed by locust and animal infestations. It appeared in Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford (2023). After Yellowstone, this was a different but similar feeling….. I really enjoyed this and although I should see some ore, something makes me feel like maybe it could be better (harder challenge after Yellowstone!) BUT. BUT. BUT…. It finally seems to start moving with the merging of the side stories… And then it ends – apparently this is scheduled for a second season – BUT – if it doesn’t happen, you’ve just wasted your time because the story isn’t even finished by the end of this first season. And there is currently no announcement or schedule for a second season… This pisses me off so much! It’s like going to a great restaurant and being served only side dishes without a main course!!! What the hell….Bring the producers….Get your fingers out!!!!
