Andy Goodrich’s life is turned upside down when his wife enters a drug rehabilitation program, leaving him alone with their young children. Goodrich leans on Grace, his daughter from his first marriage, as he finally evolves into the father she never had. Writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer wrote the title role specifically for Michael Keaton. “I wrote it 100 percent with him in mind,” she said, “to the point that if he had said no, I would have buried him and myself in the backyard.” The “Cinnamon Toast Crunch” box continues to spin 180 degrees during the breakfast scene. Writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer has given us a funny, sometimes touching film that will have you smiling as the credits roll. It’s the perfect slice-of-life movie. Michael Keaton is spectacular as Andy Goodrich. Mila Kunis is impressive as Grace. Keaton and Kunis share an adorable camaraderie in all their scenes together. Vivien Lyra Blair and Jacob Kopera are fantastic as Billie and Mose, respectively. The supporting cast is phenomenal. Goodrich is a must-see for all drama lovers and fans of Michael Keaton and Mila Kunis. Watch it on the big screen and give independent films a chance to shine at the box office, for a change.
